Mexico’s recent repeal will limit the competition platform—one of the main benefits of deregulation. After the repeal goes into effect, maquiladoras and Mexican-owned companies will have to determine how to operate without interruptions and energy demand shortages. Furthermore, competition will be based on resiliency and efficiency and must be addressed internally under the scope of government energy regulation.
